Mesquite Parks and Recreation hosts annual outdoor movies series

Mesquite, TX – May 15, 2025 – Mesquite Parks and Recreation invites families to enjoy the return of its annual outdoor movies series.

The fun begins with the interactive Movies in the Park and Touch-A-Truck event on May 16 at Paschall Park, located at 1001 New Market Road. This event offers a unique opportunity for children to climb on, explore, and learn about essential City of Mesquite vehicles, including police cars, dump trucks, fire trucks and more, before settling in for a screening of the animated film “Turbo.”

Next, couples are invited to a special Movies in the Park with an outdoor screening of the movie “Date Night” on June 28 outside the Florence Recreation Center at 2501 Whitson Way. This event is made for couples to enjoy a date night together. Free childcare will be available for ages 5 and up. Complimentary food provided by OvenHead Pizza will be offered while supplies last.

Later in the summer, splash into a night of fun with Dive-In Movie on July 11 at the City Lake Aquatic Center, 200 Parkview Street, with a free premiere of “Moana.” Guests can experience a blend of swimming and entertainment for the whole family with games, music, contests and more. A hula dance performance and fire show will take place at 8:45 p.m. before the movie begins. Guests are encouraged to arrive early, as pool capacity is limited to the first 500 guests. 

The outdoor movies series concludes with a showing of “Shrek” on Sept. 13 at Rorie Galloway Day Camp, located at 3100 Lawson Road. Guests can enjoy outdoor games with family and friends, such as basketball, Texas pong, cornhole, and free face painting before unwinding with the movie. 

Admission and parking for the events are free. Pre-show festivities will begin at 7 p.m., with movies shown at dusk. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Concessions will be available for purchase.
