Founded in 1988, STAR Transit is the fourth largest transit agency in the North Central Texas region, headquartered in Terrell, TX. STAR Transit provides safe, affordable and convenient transportation in their service area, providing over 235,000 rides annually. Destinations include job locations, educational facilities, non-emergency medical appointments, senior centers and career-training facilities. STAR Transit can take passengers to run errands and to visit friends.

Services

STARNow is a ride share service that operates within the Mesquite travel zone.  The Mesquite travel zone includes the DART Lake Ray Hubbard Transit Center, Hanby Stadium Mesquite COMPASS park-n-ride, Eastfield College, Town East Mall area, Dallas Regional Galloway Medical Center, Walmart Supercenter, Mesquite City Hall and Municipal Center, Mesquite Main Post Office, DART Lawnview Station, and many more local businesses, medical offices, and restaurants.  Please see STAR Transit’s webpage to review the map of the travel zone for pick-up and drop-off locations. Download the STARNow mobile app which allows riders to book and pay for their same day trips from their phone. Trips may be scheduled for immediate pickup or for later the same day. Payment may be made by credit card or in cash at the time of pick-up. Once a trip is created, riders will receive real-time updates via text, phone call or app notifications and can track the vehicle location and estimated arrival time in the app. If a person does not have a smartphone, a trip may be booked by calling 877-631-5278.

COMPASS (City of Mesquite PASsenger Shuttle). STAR Transit connects you to the DART Rail Green Line via COMPASS, the City of Mesquite PASsenger Shuttle. Mesquite COMPASS is a weekday bus service between Mesquite’s Hanby Stadium and Lawnview Station. The first bus leaves Hanby Stadium at 6 a.m. and the last bus departs Lawnview Station at 5:30 p.m. Riders can use the STARNow App to request a ride from the Lawnview Station to either Hanby Stadium or other City of Mesquite Destinations after shuttle hours between 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Call 877-631-5278 for more information.

STAR Transits Demand Response is also a shared ride curb-to-curb transit service.  Residents must schedule a ride on the Demand Response buses at least one business day but not more than two weeks in advance of the desired trip. Riders will provide their name, address, destination, appointment time and a time to return home. Exact cash or STAR Transit tickets are required each time the customer boards the bus. STAR Transit has joined the GoPass app network, allowing riders to purchase monthly and day passes that can be used on fixed routes and STARNow. Single ride passes are also available. The app allows users to plan a trip, pay for the pass, and store until ready for use. The app is free on the App Store and Google Play.
