Active Adults
Mesquite offers three facilities with services and activities specifically for adults 50+. The senior centers offer a variety of leisure time activities, support services and educational opportunities for participants. The facilities are ADA accessible.
Senior Centers

Congregate Meal


Good nutrition is part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. A hot lunch, providing one-third of the “Recommended Daily Requirement” for a regular diet, is offered for a low suggested donation of $1 to qualified 60+ participants. Those 59 and under may purchase a meal for $5.50. Lunch is served Monday-Friday at Goodbar and Evans Recreation Centers 11:45 a.m. Advanced reservations are preferred. “This program is supported, in part, by the City of Mesquite, the Dallas Area Agency on Aging and the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services.” Click here for the menu.


Servir Almuerzo 


Una buena nutrición es parte de mantener un estilo de vida saludable. El almuerzo se ofrece por una donación de $1 a participantes de 60 anos o mas. Los 59 y menores pueden comprar una comida por $5.50. El almuerzo se sirve de Lunes a Viernes en Goodbar y Evans a las 11:45 am. Reservaciones avanzadas son preferidas. “Este programa es apoyado, en parte, por la Ciudad de Mesquite, Dallas Area Agency on Aging y el Departamento de Adultos Mayores y Personas Discapacitadas.”


Portable Pantry Program 


In partnership with Mesquite Social Services and Griswold Home Care, food bags consisting of about 10 items (typical offerings include: water, canned goods, boxed cereal and pasta) are offered to adults who are ages 50+ and reside in Mesquite. To receive a bag, participants must file an application with two weeks’ notice before pick-up date.

People And Nutrition (PAN) Program


In partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, North Texas Food Bank, Sharing Life Community Outreach and Griswold Home Care food boxes are provided containing approximately 15 items (typical offerings include: canned food, non-perishable milk, boxed cereal, pasta, rice, beans and protein). This government funded program is for adults 60+ who reside in Dallas County. Income restrictions apply. To qualify, participants must complete an application two weeks prior to pick-up.

Nourishing Neighbor Program 


In partnership with North Texas Food Bank, Sharing Life Community Outreach and Griswold  Home Care, this programs provides a variety of staple items and fresh produce to homebound adults 50+.  Pet food can be included for those with dogs or cats. To receive a box, participants must complete an application two weeks prior to delivery.
