3. How many high grass notices will I receive in a year?

High grass notices are only sent out one time in a calendar year and remain in effect for one year from the date of the first notice. During that year the City is not required to send further notices.

4. Who is responsible for maintaining the area behind my house?

The owner or resident is responsible for maintaining 50% of the area, from property line to property line, splitting the alley in half. Maintenance includes tree limbs, trash and grass.

5. How do I report a junk or inoperable vehicle?

Yes. Personal information is not shared when responding to potential code violations.

7. How do I check the status of a code violation?

If the violation was reported online, a confirmation number should have been received to track the status of your complaint. If the confirmation number has been misplaced, call the Environmental Code Office at (972) 216-6276 .

8. When can I put my trash out for pickup?

Trash can be placed outside for pickup beginning at 5:30 p.m. the day before it is scheduled for pickup. Click here to figure out what day.

9. Is it possible to request an extension for a code violation?

Yes. Depending on the violation, some requests for extensions can be accommodated. Contact the Inspector listed on the violation notice or the Environmental Code Office to discuss your request.
