Mesquite, TX – January 8, 2018 – Last night the Mesquite City Council appointed 12 members to the new Mesquite Downtown Development Advisory Board. The board, created Dec. 17, 2018, is charged with serving as liaison to the City Council by making recommendations regarding Downtown Mesquite development initiatives.
These initiatives include incentive programs and applications requesting development incentives, programs and activities of the organization. Members will also serve on special committees for promotions, economic vitality and design. Additionally, they will update the City Council of the status of Downtown Mesquite development progress.
“This step is vital to the continued progress of the revitalization of Downtown Mesquite,” said Beverly Abell, Downtown Development Manager. “By obtaining designation as a Texas Main Street community, we now have access to expert training, architectural services and business development. An advisory board will be a tremendous asset to the City Council in making the best decisions for Downtown Mesquite’s future.”
The following Mesquite residents were appointed to the board: Art Greenhaw, Julie Greer, Jennifer Vidler, Brooks Watts, Mike Oswalt, Lisa Haar, Carolyn Miller, Bill Porter, Kyle Berry, Bradley Brandt, Belinda Epps and Helen Ethridge.
