Mesquite, TX – November 28, 2018 – The City of Mesquite is moving in the right direction. That was the summary of the 2018 community survey results released by the City Council.
The highlights of the survey findings included:
- Mesquite rates 12 percent above the Texas average and 7 percent above the United States average in the value residents feel they receive for City taxes they pay.
- Mesquite rates 23 percent above the Texas average and 20 percent above the U.S. Average in customer service provided by City employees.
- Citizens noted their top priorities for City Services as maintenance of streets and sidewalks, environmental code enforcement and public safety.
Mayor Stan Pickett said, “This survey reaffirms that the City Council’s policy issues mirror what is most important to our citizens. We will continue our focus on public safety, our neighborhoods and the condition of our streets. The City is very responsive to citizen input.”
Mayor Pickett also stated the survey revealed that 63 percent of residents feel Mesquite is an excellent or good place to live. The highest rated areas of City services on the survey were the quality of police, fire and ambulance services, as well as trash and yard waste services and library services.
The survey showed Mesquite ranks higher in overall City services in comparison to other cities in Texas and the United States. Those services are the quality of trash and yard waste services, parks and recreation programs and facilities, customer service and the effectiveness of communication with the public.
