Celebrate Western Heritage at the Mesquite Rodeo Day

Home Posted on March 13, 2026

Mesquite will celebrate its Western roots with Rodeo Day in Downtown Mesquite on Saturday, March 28, featuring the annual Rodeo Parade and the opening day of the Downtown Mesquite Market at Front Street Station.

Join us for the 68th annual Rodeo Parade at 10 a.m. The parade will start on S. Bryan-Belt Line Road at Newsom Road and will continue through Downtown Mesquite.

The Rodeo Parade dates back to the 1950s, when the owners of the rodeo rode their horses into Downtown Mesquite and invited the community to the new rodeo facility.

This year’s parade theme is “Stirrup Some Fun!” Participants are encouraged to show off the spirit of the Old West through their parade floats. Mesquite Poteet High School alumnus and NFL veteran Malik Jefferson will serve as the parade’s Grand Marshal.

The parade entry fee is $40, and registration ends March 27. Entries are open, but not limited to, local community groups, sports teams, school clubs and businesses. Livestock groups are also invited to participate and can waive their entry fee by contacting funmakers@cityofmesquite.com or calling the Parks and Recreation Administrative Office at 972-216-6260.

Rodeo Day will also mark the opening of the Downtown Mesquite Market from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Front Street Station. Rodeo Day activities at the Market will include a photo opportunity with Western-themed props, Western music and entertainment, and a historic tour.

Discover a wide variety of local goods every Saturday at the Market, including artisanal products, locally grown produce, home-baked goods and more. The Market, which will run through November, also features food vendors, live musical performances and special programming throughout the season. Learn more at www.DowntownMesquiteTX.com.
