Mesquite, TX – November 1, 2021 – During a ceremony on Nov. 1 to celebrate Texas Municipal Courts Week at Mesquite Municipal Court, the City of Mesquite announced Kristi Holt as the 2021 Clerk of the Year and Ronald D. Parker as the 2021 Deputy Marshal of the Year.
Kristi Holt started working for the City of Mesquite in the Utility Billing Division in 2004 and transferred to the Municipal Court in 2011. Kristi is the Senior Cashier-Municipal Court Clerk. She has earned her Clerk I and II Certification from the Texas Municipal Court Education Center. Lidia Barraza, Court Administrator, said, “Kristi has excellent customer service skills assisting the public, other departments and co-workers. She is the to go to person with questions on cashiering, data entry of citations, and arrest reports.”
Ronald D. Parker has been employed as a Mesquite Deputy Marshal since 2016. He was a Mesquite Police Officer for nearly 27 years before retiring and coming to the Mesquite Marshal Office. Michael Meek, Chief Marshal, said, “Deputy Marshal Parker has become a valuable asset to the Mesquite Marshal Office. He is responsible for training all new Deputy Marshals that are hired. He is always eager to assist in various capacities, including serving a warrant or transporting prisoners.”
As a part of the ceremonies, Mayor Bruce Archer presented Court Administrator Lidia Barraza and Municipal Judge Detra Hill with a special proclamation for November 1 – 5, 2021 as Texas Municipal Courts Week in the City of Mesquite.
Mesquite Municipal Court is using Texas Municipal Courts Week to promote traffic safety. City staff will have traffic safety exhibits, a driving impaired simulator, a crashed vehicle exhibit and a variety of educational activities at the Municipal Court building.
