Mesquite, TX – August 27, 2021 – Due to staffing shortages, the Brunhilde Nystrom City Lake Aquatic Center will not be able to open the next two weekends, bringing the operating season to a close. The City of Mesquite apologizes for the inconvenience.
This summer, Parks and Recreation was negatively impacted by the nationwide shortage of lifeguards. Typically, the City hires approximately 65 guards to operate all three swimming pools. This past summer the City was able to hire 26 guards. Due to the inability to find certified staff, Brunhilde Nystrom City Lake Aquatic Center was the only pool open for public swim this summer.
