Mesquite, TX – June 28, 2021 - This July, join Mesquite Park and Recreation Department as we celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month. This year, we are highlighting how the City of Mesquite is stronger, more vibrant and more resilient because of parks and recreation. See the calendar provided for a variety of activities planned for residents of all ages and abilities.
Park and Recreation Month is an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). As a partner organization of NRPA, the Parks and Recreation Department is inviting the community to share their experiences, memories, and stories about what parks and recreation means to them. With everything from parks, pools, recreation classes, and athletic leagues, there are plenty of ways to celebrate with us as well!
“July is the perfect time to highlight all the stories, memories and experiences that park, and recreation professionals help make happen right here in Mesquite,” said Elizabeth Harrell, Park and Recreation Director. We encourage everyone in Mesquite to come create their own park and recreation story with us this July.”
There will be a variety of activities held all month long at various locations throughout the City. NRPA encourages people that support parks and recreation to share their park and recreation story, as well as why their local park and recreation professionals are important to them, with the hashtag #OurParkAndRecStory.
