Mesquite, TX - May 28, 2021 - Today, the City of Mesquite honored Police Officer Joe Maddox for more than 20 years of service. Mayor Bruce Archer presented a proclamation and the Police Department and Mesquite Police Association honored Maddox with retirement gifts.
Here is the proclamation:
WHEREAS, we are here today to express our appreciation to Joe Maddox and to honor him for his distinguished 21-year career with the City of Mesquite; and
WHEREAS, Joe began his career with the Mesquite Police Department on January 8, 2000, as a police officer and has worked under five police chiefs, two city managers and four mayors; and
WHEREAS, when Joe began his career in 2000, the City of Mesquite had a population of 121,900 compared to 145,410 today; and
WHEREAS, Joe currently holds a Master Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and is a Field Training Officer. His departmental awards include 15-Year Safe Driving Award, Firearms Proficiency Awards, Perfect Attendance Award, Mesquite Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (MCPAAA) Officer of the Month, 2018 MCPAAA Officer of the Year Award, two Certificate of Merit Awards, three Life-Saving Awards, 2006 American Legion Officer of the Year, 2008 Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Service Award, as well as 79 letters of commendation; and
WHEREAS, on behalf of the entire City Council, I want to express my sincere appreciation to Joe for his loyalty to the City of Mesquite over the past 21 years and wish him much happiness as he begins this exciting new chapter in his life.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bruce Archer, Mayor of the City of Mesquite, do hereby proclaim Friday,
May 28, 2021, as:
Joe Maddox Day
in the City of Mesquite, and urge all citizens and employees to join me and the City Council in congratulating Joe on an outstanding career with the City of Mesquite and expressing our sincere appreciation to him for his unwavering dedication and service. We wish him many years of happiness and good health.
