Mesquite, TX – April 9, 2021 – Keep Mesquite Beautiful (KMB) will hold its bi-annual volunteer cleanup event, Trash Bash, on April 24. Trash Bash is an opportunity for families, neighbors and groups to join together to help beautify the Mesquite community. Volunteers can register at www.cityofmesquite.com/TrashBash and contact KMB at 972-329-8331 for more details.
Mayor Archer stated, “We know that a cleaner city as well as a more attractive city is not only good for fighting crime and a safer city, but it is also a city that has more opportunities for economic development and for a better quality of life for our citizens. Trash Bash is one part of our efforts to improve our community in terms of its appearance and generating civic pride.”
In keeping with the public health guidelines, the following adjustments have been made:
- Volunteers will be provided trash grabbers, safety vests, disposable gloves and trash bags during a curbside pick-up at the Community Services Building, 1616 N. Galloway Avenue, from 8 - 9 a.m.
- Volunteers are encouraged to wear a face covering, socially distance and sanitize.
- Volunteer groups will be limited to 10 people per group, with larger groups being split into smaller groups to cover different areas of the same location.
- Volunteers will dispose of trash bags and supplies at assigned locations.
Trash Bash is the first event that is part of the City’s new Clean City Initiative. The initiative combines the efforts of several City departments and programs into a unified strategy to improve the appearance of our community. The Clean City Initiative will combine the efforts of Keep Mesquite Beautiful, Mesquite Parks and Recreation, Environmental Code and Solid Waste to promote litter prevention, beautification projects and improved regulations.
