Mesquite, TX- October 30, 2020 – To promote health, wellness, and an active lifestyle, the Mesquite Parks and Recreation Department will launch the “Get in the G.A.M.E.” series for the month of November. G.A.M.E., which stands for Get Active, Move, & Exercise, will celebrate being healthy and fit and highlight ways families and individuals can get outside and get moving in the community. The program will run four weeks, from November 4-30.
The “Get in the G.A.M.E.” series will culminate with the department’s first ever virtual 5K Turkey Trot. At their own pace, on their own schedule, and on their own route, participants can run, walk, bike, swim, skate, or scoot to complete their own 5K. The goal is to have fun, get moving, and foster community spirit.
Participants who complete the 5K will be encouraged to share the fun by posting a picture to social media using the hashtag #GetInTheGAMEMesquite to the City’s Facebook page. The virtual Turkey Trot 5K event will begin November 25 and participants will have until November 29 to complete their 5K and post their picture. All participants who post a picture will earn a medal which they can pick up from the Parks and Recreation Administration office beginning Tuesday, December 1. Participants will also be entered into a drawing for a prize, the winner of which will be announced via Facebook on December 1st.
