Mesquite, TX – October 13, 2020 – On Oct. 12, Mesquite Mayor Bruce Archer presented a special proclamation to Mesquite resident, Jackie Grant, in honor of his 27 year career with Walmart.
Here is the proclamation that was presented:
WHEREAS, we are here today to express special recognition to Jackie Grant and to honor him for his loyal and dedicated twenty-seven-year career with Walmart; and
WHEREAS, Jackie began his career with Walmart working as a parking lot attendant and after 10 years was promoted to the Hardware and Paint Department where he faithfully served until his retirement; and
WHEREAS, Jackie is known as an honest, hard-working man who consistently had Perfect Attendance. While working the parking lot one day, he found a purse and turned it in to customer service. It was determined that the customer had $2,000 in her purse and she was very thankful to Jackie for turning in her purse; and
WHEREAS, Jackie has a wonderful support system that will help him adjust to retirement in his La-Z-Boy® Chair cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Arkansas Razorbacks. His loving family includes his wife, Shirley, two children, Christina and Trey, daughter-in-law, Stormi, three step grandchildren, Gabbi, Linc and Cooper, and four dogs, Tater, Rosie, Stinker and Yogi.
WHEREAS, on behalf of the entire City Council, I want to express my sincere appreciation to Jackie for his dedication to Walmart and wish him much happiness as he begins this exciting new chapter in his life.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bruce Archer, Mayor of the City of Mesquite, do hereby proclaim Monday, October 12, 2020, as:
Jackie Grant Day
in the City of Mesquite, and urge all citizens and Walmart employees to join me in congratulating Jackie on an outstanding career with Walmart, and extend to Jackie and Shirley our best wishes of happiness and good health in the future.
