Mesquite, TX – Aug. 7, 2020 – The City of Mesquite has received a 10 positive West Nile-Virus reports from the Dallas County Mosquito Lab. Spraying will start tonight at 10 p.m. in the following neighborhoods: Along Pioneer Road between Newsome Road and Sierra Drive, Falcons Lair, Tealwood Drive between Valley Creek Park and Mckenzie Road, near the intersection of Tripp Road and Galloway Avenue. The Northridge area from Hillcrest Street to Grubb Drive. The area on each side of Gross Road near the Sybil Drive and Gross Road intersection, along Oates Drive over to La Prada Drive to Motley Drive, along Kearney Street east to Collins Road, Edgemont Park and around City Lake Park.
Two sprays of the area will be completed. Spraying begins after 10 p.m. and ends no later than 5:30 a.m.
West Nile virus is currently very active in North Texas counties. Precautions should be taken if outside during the hours when mosquitos are active. Prevention is the best defense against the West Nile virus. Mesquite residents are reminded to enjoy the outdoors, and remember the four D’s:
