Mesquite, TX – Aug. 5, 2020 – Mesquite Police Chief Charles Cato presented the Mesquite Police Department’s (MPD) Quarterly Report during the City Council meeting on Aug.3. The report covered crime statistics for the second quarter of 2020, which showed a decrease in various performance metrics including robbery, burglary and motor vehicle accidents compared to the same quarter as last year. Recently, MPD has produced new public awareness efforts to help reduce specific crimes. There has been an increase in crimes committed during exchanges from internet sales. The 4 B’s message and new public service announcement video was released to help educate the community and to promote the Exchange Zone in front of the police department building. Watch the PSA.
