Mesquite, TX – August 1, 2020- As part of its Nonresponse Follow-up Operation, the U.S. Census Bureau is visiting every household that has not already responded to the 2020 Census to ensure a complete and accurate count. Complete your Census:

If someone visits to collect information for the 2020 Census, residents are encouraged to check to make sure they have a valid ID badge with their photograph, a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark, and an expiration date. Census workers may also carry Census Bureau bags and other equipment with the Census Bureau logo. To verify their identity, residents can contact the Dallas Regional Census Center at 972-510-1800 to speak with a Census Bureau representative.
Census takers will ask a few questions and will enter the answers on their secure Census Bureau smart phone. If a family member is not home when the census taker visits, they will leave a notice of their visit with information about how to respond online or by phone. As necessary, they will make additional visits to collect responses from the household. Census takers will follow social distancing protocols and all applicable state and local requirements with regard to health and safety. Further, during the 2020 Census, the Census Bureau will never ask for:
- Your Social Security number.
- Your bank account or credit card numbers.
- Anything on behalf of a political party.
- Money or donations.
In addition, the Census Bureau will not contact you on behalf of a political party.
