Mesquite, TX – November 20, 2019 – A quality neighborhood starts with engaged neighbors. If you live in Mesquite, you can advocate for quality neighborhoods by volunteering as a Mesquite Code Ambassador. The program enlists the help of resident volunteers to identify specific code violations throughout Mesquite.
Residents are invited to attend the next Code Ambassador Orientation at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in the Mesquite Arts Center Rehearsal Hall, 1527 N. Galloway Ave. Following orientation, classes begin Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m. All classes take place at Mesquite Arts Center.
Before participating, volunteers must undergo background checks and commit to six hours per month of volunteer time. Training classes and mandatory ride-outs with code enforcement officers are required. Once trained, Code Ambassadors will survey assigned neighborhoods in City-provided vehicles for code violations viewable from the right-of-way. Volunteers are unauthorized to survey neighborhoods in which they reside. For more information, call Mesquite Neighborhood Services at 972-329-8704.
