Activities & Storytimes

The Mesquite Public Library provides various programs for children. Check the Calendar of Events for specific dates, times, and locations.

Storytimes are held at both the Mesquite Main Library and the Mesquite North Branch Library. Families with preschool-age children are welcome to attend.  Young children love to engage with stories, songs, and other activities.  The Main Library Storytimes are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.  The North Branch Library Storytime is on Mondays at 10:30 a.m.

Both libraries have monthly Lego® Clubs.  The Main Library Lego Club meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 4:00 p.m.  The North Branch Library Lego Club meets on the first Saturday of the month at 2:00 p.m.

Children's Resources

The online resource TexShare Library of Texas has some databases specifically aimed at children, including Explora-Elementary. These are available in the library or from your home computer. You will need a login and a password to access this site. Ask the Children’s Librarian for more details.

The Mesquite Public Library also offers TumbleBookLibrary, a curated database of ebooks for elementary-age children. It provides easy access to many new titles, read-along books, and graphic novels for children.

Gale Presents: Miss Humblebee's Academy, an interactive, online preschool curriculum, is free through the Mesquite Public Library. It fosters early literacy skills in children ages 3 to 6 - setting them up for success in kindergarten and beyond.

Children’s Computers

Both the Mesquite Main Library and the Mesquite North Branch Library have computers that provide fun, educational children's games. These computers do not have Internet access, Microsoft Office, or printing capabilities. They do have a variety of educational games designed for children from preschool through sixth grade. Ask at the Children’s information desk for assistance in using these stations.
