Online eCard      

The Mesquite Public Library offers an online eCard. 

Note: If you already have a library card from the Mesquite Public Library, you will not be issued an eCard. A traditional library card provides the same online privileges.

An eCard: 
  • Is a virtual library card that allows access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, databases and other electronic resources.
  • Will be issued via email.
  • Is available to Texas residents 14 years or older.
  • Is good for 3 years and may be renewed online.
  • Cannot be used to access internet computers in the Library or to checkout physical books, CDs, DVDs, etc.

Our online catalog allows you to check on the availability of library items, review your account, renew items, or place a hold. Please note that the catalog undergoes regular daily maintenance and so may be unavailable between 10:30 pm and midnight.

ReferenceUSA is a comprehensive source of business information for job seekers, business owners, government agencies and others. It provides details on over 40 million U.S. businesses and more than 250 million U.S. residents. The information can be used to research sales territory, target business contacts, learn about competitors, locate market analytics and find current/historical market trends. It can also be used to compile mailing lists or to create maps, graphs and charts. To access database, accept the Terms and Conditions and then enter library card number. Users may also create a personal account to save search information.

TexShare Library of Texas logo
TexShare Library of Texas is an extensive collection of databases which gives users the opportunity to access full-text articles in encyclopedias, almanacs, reference books, journals, newspapers, and electronic books. Databases include Ebsco MasterFile and Academic Search, Heritage Quest Online, Texas Digital Sanborn Maps, Ebsco Consumer Health Complete, Gale Literature Resources Center, InfoTrac Custom Newspapers, and Net Library. You will need a login and password, which you may request from a reference librarian.

Download eBooks or eAudiobooks from our OverDrive catalog. The Mesquite Public Library System is a member of the Northeast Texas Digital Consortium which gives our cardholders access to a broad collection of fiction and nonfiction titles in a downloadable format. You will need your library card number and PIN to check out titles.

America’s News database features articles from newspapers, newswires, blogs, periodicals and web-only content. Includes Dallas Morning News, Mesquite News, Newsweek and USA Today. Also has Current Events and Special Reports for homework help. You will need your library card number to log in.

The Dallas Morning News database features full-text articles from the newspaper dating back to 1984. Death notices can be searched back to December 29, 2002. Articles can be printed, saved or emailed. You will need your library card number to log in.

Gale Legal Forms logo
Gale Legal Forms includes a wide selection of Texas legal forms. Also includes a directory of Texas attorneys and a dictionary of legal definitions explained in layman’s language. You will need your library card number and your PIN to log in.
Rocket Languages
Learn a foreign language with Rocket Languages. There are 15 languages to choose from, including ASL Sign Language. First time users will need to create an account with your library card number, name, email address and password so that you can track your progress. On following visits, login using email address and password.
Check out and download magazine issues at RBdigital eMagazines, or download the free app to your smartphone, tablet, or other mobile device. Log in with your library card number and PIN, and then create an account to manage your downloads. Magazines do not need to be returned. Current issues are available for 31 titles, plus back issues for most titles dating back to September 2013.

America's Obituaries & Death Notices is NewsBank's large and comprehensive collection of newspaper obituaries and death notices from around the United States. Each obituary or death notice is indexed by the name of the deceased person, to make searching easier and more precise. In addition, the text of each obituary or death notice is searchable, making it easy to find just what you're looking for using a place of residence, occupation, names of family members, or other personal information.

Database Available Within the Library System Locations

Ancestry Library Edition is available in the U.S., the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Denmark, Ireland and Norway, and provides access to billions of historical documents, millions of historical photos, plus local narratives, oral histories, indexes and other resources in over 30,000 databases that span from the 1500s to the 2000s. This program is available only in the library buildings.

AllData Online is a comprehensive resource for automotive diagnostic and repair information. This database is available only in the library buildings.
