Computers

The Mesquite Public Library System provides computer services at both the Mesquite Main Library and the Mesquite North Branch Library.

Internet Access

The Mesquite Main Library has 17 computers with Internet access available. The Mesquite North Branch Library has 10 computers with Internet access available. To use these computers, you will need a valid library card in good standing and your PIN. Visitors may request a guest pass, which requires a photo ID for verification. Printing is available at $0.15 per page.

If all computers are in use, you may make a reservation for the next available computer or for a later time in the day. You may use the computer for an hour at a time, up to four hours a day.

Most computer stations are for single patron use, though there are some designated stations where two people may work together. Teens aged 12-17 may use the Internet computers if a parent or legal guardian has permitted by signing the library card application. Children under 12 may use their parents’ library card and PIN to use the computer, and the parent must stay in the vicinity while the child is on the computer; this is the only circumstance where a person is allowed to use someone else’s library card number and PIN. 

Microsoft Office

All of the Internet access computers at both locations have Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint installed. Ask at the computer information help desk for assistance in using these stations.

OPACs and Online Resources

In addition to the public Internet access computers, the Mesquite Public Library System has computer stations for our Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) and other online resources, including:

  • AllData Online
  • Jobview
  • Gale Legal Forms
  • TexShare Library of Texas

These computer stations do not require a login or reservation.

Printing

Princh is a mobile print solution that will allow patrons to easily and securely print from a mobile phone, tablet, or laptop, both remotely and at the library, to the printers located at North Branch Library and Main Library. Print jobs are $0.15 per page.

Library Remote Printing

Email documents from any device or download the APP to print remotely to a library printer. Follow the instructions for the Main Library or the North Branch Library for printing services. The cost for remote printing is $0.15 cents per page for black and white prints. Print jobs may take 5-10 minutes to arrive at a printer. Pick up prints at the designated library within 12 hours, or they will be automatically deleted.

Children’s Computers

There are computers loaded with children’s games available at both the Mesquite Main Library and the Mesquite North Branch Library. These computers do not have Internet access, Microsoft Office, or printing capabilities. They do have a variety of educational games designed for children from preschool through sixth grade. Ask at the Children’s information desk for assistance in using these stations.

WiFi

Wireless access (WiFi) is available at both the Mesquite Main Library and the Mesquite North Branch Library. Your laptop or other wireless device should automatically detect the signal; no login or password is required.
