Here is some helpful information that will help you get started with applying for a Multi-Family Rental Property License. If you are wanting to register an apartment complex as a multi-family rental property, a Multi-Family Rental Property application must be submitted through CSS.
The annual licensing for apartments is a requirement and the fee is charged at a rate of $20 per unit per year.
Suppose you own/manage an apartment complex with a total of 150 apartment units.
- Number of Units: 150 apartment units
- Fee per Unit: $20 per unit per year
- Total Annual Fee = 150 units×$20 per unit
In this example, the total annual licensing fee for your apartment complex with 150 units would be $3,000.
Application review can take up to 48 business hours. When application is reviewed and finalized, an invoice will be sent via email and can also be accessed via through your CSS portal. Once payment has been made, we will issue the Multi-Family license and schedule the inspection.
Inspections
We will be doing 100% exterior walks on all buildings and 10-15% interior inspections, both occupied and unoccupied. Property managers will be contacted via phone and email informing them of the upcoming scheduled inspection.
