The City of Mesquite, in partnership with Coach Alex, offers a variety of tennis lessons, camps, classes, private lessons, and free play opportunities for children and adults of all skill levels. 


About Coach Alex,

Alex is an experienced tennis instructor who discovered their love for the sport at Westlake at the age of 9. They achieved success, winning 4 district titles in middle school and playing four years of varsity tennis. With coaching experience and a commitment to teaching the fundamentals and strategies of the game, they offer a fun and rewarding learning experience for students of all ages.

Tennis Play Hours


  • Monday - Thursday: 12:00 p.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Friday: 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Sunday: 12:00 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Court Rental

Courts are available for rentals for parties and practices for $25 per court/ per 1.5 hrs. Minimum 2 courts/3 hrs.

Beginner Tennis Lessons

Players will learn proper movement, technique, and basic tennis skills on a 36’ court using a red low-compression ball.

Ages 5 - 10

Intermediate Tennis Lessons

This class is for intermediate to advanced players. Players in this class will be working on more advanced techniques, including topspin, rallying,  and consistency in serves and returns.

Ages 11 - 17

$65 per 1 day session or $125 per 2-day session

Tennis FREE Play Days

Ages 5 - 10

This is a FREE instructional program teaching the basics of tennis.

This class uses small courts, shorter racquets and balls that bounce lower so kids can have more success when they play. All equipment is provided. Come for the whole two hours or just drop in!

Racquet Stringing

Westlake Sports Center is a certified member of the US Racquet Stringers Association and offers in-house tennis racquet stringing. Next day completion during the week days in most cases (depending on racquet volume). Please see pro shop staff for more information.

Tennis Racquet Stringing Costs

$12 with purchase of Westlake Sports Center string

$15 with supplying own string

String prices range from $8 - $20. Labor is an additional charge. 

Additional Tennis Courts

Neighborhood tennis courts are located in parks throughout the city. The courts are available at no charge and may be used on a first come, first served basis.
