October 2, 2023, City Council Meeting

City Council meetings are held on the first and third Monday of each month. The meetings are re-scheduled to the next Tuesday when it conflicts with a City holiday that falls on a Monday meeting date. The start time is published once the agenda is finalized and posted online. Per State law, agendas are posted a minimum of 72 hours in advance of the meeting start time. Residents may sign-up through the “Mesquite Messenger” function on the City’s website to receive email notification when a new City Council agenda is posted.

Kid's Book Club

Kid's Book Club will be held at the Main Library on the first Thursday of the month at 4 PM. Each month will focus on a different theme. September 7 - Adventure, October 5 - Fantasy, November 2 - Mystery & December 7 - Funny/Comedy. Kids can read any book for the month's theme. Patrons of the Mesquite Public Library are invited to join the Book Club when it meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM. Each month the Book Club will read a different book and then meet to discuss it in the Main Library's meeting room. Enjoy sharing and discussing books with other readers! Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April through November, head to Front Street Station to discover a wide variety of local goods. Discover a selection of artisanal products, locally grown produce, baked goods, bath and body products and more. Enjoy a scrumptious meal from one of our food vendors who offer everything from ice cream to snow cones, barbecue to classic fair food, and relax in front of the new outdoor stage and listen to some tunes performed by local singers and musical artists.

Indigenous People's Day with Rachel Muldez

Please join the Mesquite Arts Council as they welcome local artist Rachel Muldez to teach us about traditional ways to dye fabrics. Like many indigenous cultures around the world. The art of dying items from a natural source is a primitive method. On Saturday, October 7 from 10-12 PM, learn the chemistry that makes blue Jean blue. This workshop will allow participants to dye cloth and wood fibers using Indigo. Participants will watch as their fibers turn blue, with oxygen, right in front of their eyes. Cloth and other fibers will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own fibers in as well. Things to know about the workshop: Instructions for multiple tie-dye methods will also be taught This workshop will provide a chemistry lesson. Children should be accompanied by an adult. Gloves will be provided for protection. Wear clothing that you don't mind getting a little dirty.

Escape Room for Teens

Teens can come to the Main Library to work together to uncover and solve puzzles for clues to complete tasks and escape the room! How fast can you solve the clues? For more information, please call the Main Library at 972-216-6220.

Movies in the Park

Mesquite Parks and Recreation presents Movies in the Park, a great opportunity for the whole family to experience a movie in the relaxing outdoors. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for comfort and enjoyment! There will be traditional concessions available for purchase.

PumpkinFest

The City of Mesquite presents PumpkinFest, a family-friendly event that celebrates the Fall season. Dress in your costume and enjoy the festivities including carnival games, bounce houses, and activities for all ages. There will be a variety of contests to participate in and food truck favorites. Admission is free while some concessions and some activities will have a cost.

Please join the Mesquite Arts Council as they welcome you to their 7th annual Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration. On Saturday, October 28, from 4-7 PM, a variety of kid's activities, cultural entertainment, and visual experiences will be offered to educate the public on this Mexican holiday.
