Passion and Duality by Loran Thrasher is an enigmatic display of the harmony and contrast of two natural phenomena. This body of work represents his latest exploration of shape and color, line and void, to date. His work often creates feelings of joy and curiosity. These 3d compositons layer meaning with geometry and texture to evoke a deeper connection to the mysteries of our natural world. In essence, Passion and Duality presents itself as a Spiritual Aesthetic.

Tote-and-Go "Art Pick Up"

Tote-and-Go has changed to a monthly program. On the first Monday of each month, staff will distribute art kits that include a variety of creative projects. Any kits remaining after Wednesday, April 8 will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Availability will be determined by the waitlist, which opens on Thursday, April 9. As of January 1, 2026, there are 50 spots available. Register early before capacity is reached.

Join us for Green Thumb Thursdays, a hands-on volunteer gardening morning at Opal Lawrence Historic Park where all ages can help tend the historic veggie beds—and snag a little harvest when it’s ready!

Teen Turnout

At this FREE monthly event, teens ages 12–17 are invited to enjoy, basketball, video games, crafts, food/snacks and more. Please note: backpacks and re-entry are not permitted. On-site registration closes at 7 p.m.

Movies in the Park: Touch-A-Truck

Bring the whole family out for a fun-filled event featuring a lineup of city vehicles and trucks that kids can climb on and explore. As the sun sets, settle in for a special outdoor premiere of a movie. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Keep Mesquite Beautiful Youth Environmental Leaders Meeting

Youth Environmental Leaders is open to high school students who live in or attend school in Mesquite. Students may earn service hours while making a difference in the Mesquite environment! Students may join at any time during the year. Competitive scholarships are available to YEL students.

Trash Bash (Spring)

Come out and join hundreds of volunteers as we work to clean up Mesquite! Trash Bash is a wonderful opportunity for families, neighbors, and groups to get outside and participate in a community litter cleanup event. Volunteers will be provided trash grabbers, safety vests, disposable gloves, and trash bags. Volunteers will dispose of trash bags and supplies at assigned locations. Pre-registration required so event organizers are able to coordinate supplies and cleanup site locations.
