Convenience Center
The Citizens Convenience and Recycling Center was opened in order to provide Mesquite residents the ability to dispose of junk and other items at no cost. The facility is open only to Mesquite residents and will only take materials generated at the residence. The Convenience Center is located at 3550 Lawson Road (adjacent to the compost facility)Days/Hours of Operation: Open daily (Monday-Saturday) 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Closed: Sunday and all holidays
General Rules and Restrictions: Use of the Center is restricted to City of Mesquite solid waste customers and only materials generated from the residence will be accepted at the Center. City of Mesquite residents must show a valid Texas driver's license (showing a Mesquite address) and utility bill as proof of residency and the address must match utility bill. Except for recycling, residents will be limited to one visit to the site per month. No disposal of materials from commercial properties will be permitted. The City may reject any and all materials that facility personnel determine not suitable for disposal.
NOTE: Customers with "Water Only" service (Dallas and Kaufman Counties) are not eligible to drop off material at the Convenience Center but may use the Compost Facility for a fee.
Acceptable Items: Trash, yard waste, fencing, furniture, lumber, appliances, automotive batteries, tires (limit of 4 tires per year) and small amounts of concrete and bricks
Recyclable Items: Plastic containers, newspaper, magazines, telephone books, chipboard, cardboard, tin, steel, aluminum, glass, and all types of metal, and electronic waste (computers, monitors, televisions, etc)
Unacceptable Items: Hazardous materials (pesticides, chemicals, solvents) paint, commercially generated waste, roofing materials, rocks, dirt, oil and other automotive fluids
