50/50 Cost Sharing Program

By Mesquite City Code, residents are responsible for the repair of damaged sidewalks, curbs, gutters and driveway approaches. As this type of maintenance can be costly, a 50/50 cost share program has been established to help defray citizen expenses.

For example, if the cost of repairing one square of concrete (4’x4’) cost $64. The citizen share would be $32, while the city would pay the remainder. For additional details click here.

The 50/50 Cost Share program is only applicable if the City’s contractor performs the work and the home is owner occupied. If homeowners wish to hire their own contractors or do the repairs, citizen must apply for permits before any work is started and such work would not be covered under the program.

The abutting property owner  is required to make payment to the City in full amount of their share prior to commencement of reconstruction/repair or in 12 or 24 monthly installments; no interest is charged if payments are made according to schedule.

50/50 Cost Share Program – Temporary Pause on Estimates

The City of Mesquite is in the process of rebidding its annual 50/50 Cost Share Program.
To ensure all residents receive the most accurate and consistent pricing, the City has temporarily paused the issuance of new estimates.

Important Update – Payment and Pricing (Effective April 1, 2026)
The current contract expires on April 1, 2026.
For residents who submit payment after April 1, 2026:

• The City will honor your originally quoted price, even if pricing changes under the new contract.
• Your project will be placed on hold and scheduled once the new contract is awarded.

Optional Refund and Re‑Estimate Opportunity
Residents who submit payment after April 1, 2026 may choose one of the following options:

• Request a full refund with no penalty.
• Return to the waiting list for future scheduling.
• Receive a new estimate once the updated contract is in place.

  • This may be beneficial if the new pricing is lower.
