    With an investigative eye, Mr. Harris creates life-sized (or larger) photo-realistic drawings of subjects laboriously executed with graphite on Mylar. He chooses common everyday people, saddles, skulls, vegetables, or utilitarian objects that he finds intriguing in their complexity.

    City Council meetings are held on the first and third Monday of each month. The meetings are re-scheduled to the next Tuesday when it conflicts with a City holiday that falls on a Monday meeting date. The start time is published once the agenda is finalized and posted online. Per State law, agendas are posted a minimum of 72 hours in advance of the meeting start time. Residents may sign-up through the “Mesquite Messenger” function on the City’s website to receive email notification when a new City Council agenda is posted.

  1. Mesquite Recycles Day (Spring)

    Mesquite Recycles Day is a twice-annual event held in Mesquite, TX. At the event, we accept used cell phones, batteries and accessories; printer cartridges, and rechargeable and alkaline batteries. Local agencies are on-hand to collect used toys and children’s items, clothing, and household items. Onsite shredding is available for home use. E-waste will also be accepted, including computers and peripheral equipment, VCRs, DVD players, and similar items. Used appliances are accepted. A maximum of 4 tires per person is permitted.     The City of Mesquite is now accepting applications for the 2021 Summer Youth Internship Program (SYIP)! Eligible applicants must live in Mesquite, be between the ages of 15-17, and meet Federal income requirements. To apply please complete and submit the 2021 Summer Youth Internship Application and required documents. The 2021 Session will take place June 11 - July 25, 2021. Applications are due by 5pm on Friday, April 30, 2021. Applications may be submitted via email to RButler@cityofmesquite.com and MSchlegel@cityofmesquite.com, or in-person at the Housing & Community Services building located at 1616 N.   4. Winter Storm FEMA registration deadline

    Governor Greg Abbott announced that at the request of the Texas Division of Emergency Management, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has extended the Individual Assistance registration period for Texans impacted by the winter storm. Individuals who live in qualifying counties now have until May 20, 2021 to submit damages and make claims to FEMA.

  9. Little Rookies Basketball (Registration Period)

    The Little Rookies program is designed for 3 and 4-year-old children, will provide an introduction to basic basketball skills such as passing, dribbling, and shooting. This five week program is held on Saturdays at Dunford Recreation Center and will provide instructional activities followed by a brief scrimmage. Participants will need to register for the 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. session. A parent / guardian is required to be at all sessions and must participate.
