1. Can I get an extension on my water bill?: Extensions can be granted in certain circumstances. Contact the Water Billing Office to speak with a representative at (972) 216-6208.

2. What do I do if I think my water bill is too high?: If you think your water bill is too high, you can have your meter re-read. To schedule a meter reread, contact the Water Billing Office at (972) 216-6208.

4. How do I check the due date of my water bill?: You can check the status of your bill and its due date by logging onto your online account. The due date for the bill is also listed at the top of the water bill.

5. Does the City give a discount for filling up swimming pools?: No. The City does not offer discounts for filling up swimming pools. Regular water rates apply.

6. Can I change the due date of my water bill?: No. Water bills are sent out according to sectors within the city. Each sector is billed at a certain time during the month. If you have timing issues with your bill, you can request a water bill extension by calling the Water Billing Office at (972) 216-6208.

7. How do I change the name on my water account?: Only the homeowners or the individuals on the lease of the home have the authority to be on the water bill. Contact the Water Billing Office at (972) 216-6208 for case-specific guidance.

8. Does the City grant leak adjustments?: Yes. The City does grant leak adjustments. These requests must include a copy of the repair statement indicating that a leak was discovered and repaired. The City will maintain a copy of the statement to ensure that the repair is secure on future water bills. Contact the Water Billing Office at (972) 216 6208 for more information.

9. How do I set up water service with the City of Mesquite?: Homeowners will need to bring a copy of the settlement statements received at the closing of the home and personal identification for each of the listed purchasers to the Water Billing Office. Renters will need to bring a copy of the lease agreement, green tag showing the property has passed inspection by the City of Mesquite within the past 30 days, and personal identification for each adult tenant on the lease to the Water Billing Office. 10. What methods of payment does the Water Billing Office accept?: The Water Billing office accepts several methods of payments. These include: If you are paying in person, the Water Billing Office accepts cash, checks, money orders and all credit cards except American Express. If you are paying over the phone, the Water Billing Office accepts checks by phone or credit/debit cards through the automated payment system. If you are paying online, the Water Billing Office accepts payment with direct withdrawal from checking accounts and debit or credit cards. 11. Why is my bill higher than my neighbors?: Households are billed based on water usage. Differences in bills can occur based on the number of individuals living in the home and frequency of water usage.

12. What is the drainage charge on my bill?: The drainage charge is for the stormwater runoff that goes into the City’s sewer system.
