Most City offices and facilities are closed for the Thanksgiving holiday Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29. Mesquite Animal Services and City recreation centers are open Nov. 29. There is no trash or recycling collection Nov. 28; however, trash collection will occur Nov. 29. View a complete list of closures.

Shop local on Small Business Saturday Nov. 30

Join your friends and hometown businesses in Downtown Mesquite and throughout the city for the 10th anniversary of Small Business Saturday. Enjoy shopping, festive surroundings and more while you support local businesses. According to a 2018 Small Business Economic Impact Study, for every dollar spent at a small business in the U.S., approximately 67 cents stay in the local community. Shop small from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30.

Approximately 26% of each Mesquite property tax bill goes to the City to pay for services such as police, fire, public works, and parks and recreation. An additional 51% of the bill goes to Mesquite Independent School District. Christmas on the Square and Tree Lighting Dec. 3

Ring in the holidays at Christmas on the Square, 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Heritage Square, 150 W. Main St. Enjoy live music and dance performances, complimentary hot chocolate and cookies, food trucks, and the annual lighting of the tree.

Christmas in the Park Dec. 7-8

Mesquite continues its holiday kick off during Christmas in the Park from 1 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 8. The event takes place at Westlake Park, 601 Gross Road. Activities include free carnival games and make-and-take crafts, marshmallow roasting, pictures with Santa, and free cookies and hot chocolate. Admission and parking are free. Learn more.
