City Council supports Special Olympics Texas

Members of the City Council have pledged to support Special Olympics Texas by participating in the 2019 Polar Plunge. Mesquite Code Ambassadors orientation scheduled Jan. 31

Mesquite Code Ambassadors Orientation is scheduled on Jan. 31

Mesquite Code Ambassadors is a volunteer-based program created to assist the City’s code enforcement officers with specific code violations. Code Ambassadors survey assigned neighborhoods in City-provided vehicles for code violations viewable from the right-of-way. The next Code Ambassadors orientation is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at the Mesquite Arts Center Rehearsal Hall, 1527 N. Deadline to register for 2019 Neighborhood Summit is Feb. 8

Residents are invited to participate in the 2019 Neighborhood Summit. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16, starting at 8:15 a.m. at the Mesquite ISD Professional Development Center, 2600 Motley Drive. Annual Daddy Daughter Dance is Feb. 9

The Daddy Daughter Dance is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Mesquite Convention Center, 1700 Rodeo Drive. Due to the popularity of the event there are three different dance sessions to choose from: Session One: 3:30-5:30 p.m.; Session Two: 6-8 p.m.; Session Three: 8:30-10:30 p.m. Purchase tickets online or at any Mesquite recreation center.

City reminds residents about coyote safety tips

As Mesquite continues to grow, reports of coyotes living in in the city have increased. The public is asked to call 911 if they see a coyote that appears to be sick, injured or is acting aggressively. If a resident knows of a coyote living in their neighborhood, please report it by calling Mesquite Animal Services at 972-216-6283 or visit

Mesquite earns state recognition for water delivery system

Mesquite earns state recognition for water delivery system

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has notified the City of Mesquite that it achieved “superior” status for its public water supply system. The Utilities Division pumps more than 5.2 million gallons of water to customers through 550 miles of pipes. The TCEQ’s Dallas/Fort Worth Regional Office conducted their evaluation of the City’s public water supply
system and concluded it continues to merit recognition as a “superior” system.
