City Council approves new SWAT vehicle for Mesquite Police Department This week the City Council approved purchase of a new Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) vehicle for the Mesquite Police Department (MPD). The new vehicle will accommodate transportation of a full tactical team including gear and supplies. MPD's SWAT team will use the new vehicle for personnel and equipment, reserving their current vehicle for storage of extra equipment in case of a critical incident.

Help build the Comprehensive Plan for Mesquite's future
Help plan Mesquite's future as the City updates its Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan is a tool used to address key areas such as future land uses, various transportation opportunities throughout the community, future housing and neighborhoods, as well as the overall long-term design and character of Mesquite. Flu shots are available for $25 each, no appointment needed. The clinic is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Clients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Celebrate Day of the Dead in Mesquite on October 27
Celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) during two arts events in Mesquite. The Mesquite Arts Center, 1527 N. Galloway Ave., will offer fun for the whole family during its free Day of the Dead Festival from 4 to 7 p.m. Enjoy live music, face painting, food, skull decorating, a community altar and much more. Monthly sales tax report
The State Comptroller's Office reported a 4.5 percent decrease in the City's sales tax collections for the month of October compared to the same period last year. October's report is based on sales reported by local businesses during the month of August. Year-to-date collections are trending almost one percent, or $265,000, in additional revenue.
