Election Day is Saturday, May 5

Mesquite will hold an Annual City Election and Special Charter Amendment Election on May 5. Polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. To determine your polling location by precinct, visit www.DallasCountyVotes.org. The Annual City Election and Special Charter Amendment Election will elect Councilmembers for Places 3, 4 and 5 as well as determine proposed changes to the City Charter. City Council to meet on May 7

On Monday, May 7, the Mesquite City Council Pre-Meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in Training Rooms A and B at Mesquite City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave.The City Council Regular Meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chamber. The meeting will also be broadcast via Facebook Live. Councilmembers and City staff will not be able to answer questions during the broadcast. City staff will address questions after the meeting. Mesquite Police Department is accepting applications

The Mesquite Police Department is accepting online applications for police officers through 5 p.m. on Friday, May 18. The next entrance exam will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, at TEEX education center, 15515 East Interstate Highway 20.

View Mesquite ISD student art through May 15

Through May 15, City Hall will display artwork created by Mesquite ISD students. The annual Vertical Team Art Exhibition is a collaborative project between all five Mesquite high schools and their feeder schools. The artwork is available for viewing from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Friday, at 757 N. Galloway Ave.

Join Mesquite's Cinco de Mayo celebration on May 5

The Hispanic Forum of Mesquite, in partnership with the Mesquite Parks & Recreation Department, will celebrate Cince de Mayo from noon – 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, at Paschall Park, 1001 New Market Road. This family-friendly event will feature authentic Mexican food, a jalapeño eating contest, folklorico dancers, bounce houses and much more. Mesquite Recycles Day to be held on May 12

Keep Mesquite Beautiful, Inc. and the City of Mesquite will host the semi-annual Recycles Day event from 8 a.m. – noon on Saturday, May 12. This recycling and donation event will take place in the front parking lot of Poteet High School, 3300 Poteet Drive. Register for a free landscape design class on May 15

Learn basic design principles, plant placement and the newest hardscape trends during a free class held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, in the City Hall Training Rooms, 757 N.
