Statement by Mayor Stan Pickett on recent officer-involved shooting

On behalf of the entire Mesquite City Council, I would like to address the recent officer-involved shooting. The men and women of the Mesquite Police Department put their lives on the line for our citizens each and every day. For that, we are proud and thankful for their service and commitment. We are confident our criminal and internal affairs investigations were conducted with the utmost integrity and thoroughness. The City Council fully supports the decision of Police Chief Charlie Cato and the entire Mesquite Police Department. We know, as you do, this incident does not reflect on the dedication and professionalism of the men and women who protect and serve our community.
