On Monday, September 18, the Mesquite City Council Pre-Meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in Training Rooms A and B at Mesquite City Hall, located at 757 N. Galloway Avenue. Temporary exit ramp closure September 17 - 18 at northbound I-635 and Gross Road

The exit ramp at northbound Interstate 635 (I-635) and Gross Road will be closed from 9 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, through 6 a.m. on Monday, September 18. The detour route will be to exit Military Parkway and take Military Parkway to Gross Road. During this closure, the contractor will be paving the I-635 Gross Road exit. This closure is in conjunction with the Texas Department of Transportation’s I-635 to U.S. 80 service road extension and ramp reconfiguration project. Mesquite Charter Review Committee public meeting on September 20

The Mesquite Charter Review Committee will host a public meeting to gather input on a review of the City Charter. The meeting will be Wednesday, September 20, 7 p.m. at Agnew Middle School, 729 Wilkinson Drive. The public is encouraged to attend. The Mesquite City Council created the advisory committee to review, receive public input and provide a report to the City Council on possible changes to the City of Mesquite Charter. The City of Mesquite Water Conservation Office will offer a free Lawn Care Maintenance Workshop from 6 - 7:30 p.m., Thursday, September 28, at Mesquite City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Avenue. Monthly sales tax report

The State Comptroller’s Office reported a 2.5 percent increase in the City’s sales tax collections for the month of September. September’s report is based on sales reported by local businesses during the month of July. With the increase, collections are trending $289,000 above budget; however, overall, sales tax collections are relatively flat with an increase of 1.0 percent for the fiscal year.
