Mesquite Town Hall Tuesday on solid waste services to be held January 31

The City of Mesquite will host its next Town Hall Tuesday on January 31 from 7 - 8 p.m. at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Avenue. The Solid Waste Division will provide information about their various services. The public can receive helpful tips on using the Mesquite Trash and Recycling App as well as the Waste Wizard-program on the City’s website. There will also be opportunities for the public to offer their feedback and input on solid waste services. Mesquite to host open house on Code Ambassadors program

The City of Mesquite will host a Code Ambassadors Open House on Thursday, February 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the Rehearsal Hall at the Mesquite Arts Center, 1527 N. Galloway Avenue. The open house will provide information about the Code Ambassadors program, which enlists the help of citizen volunteers to identify code violations throughout the community. Fourth Quarter Development Activity Report available online

The Economic Development Activity Report for the fourth quarter of 2016 is now available online at The report summarizes development activity from October through December 2016 and includes: projects in discussion and review, building permits issued, certificates of occupancy issued, business retention and economic updates.

Purchase your Daddy Daughter Dance tickets by Sunday, January 29 and be entered into a drawing for a chance to win Dinner for Two at Texas Road House. The winner will be announced on Monday, January 30. Tickets may be purchase at any Mesquite recreation center or at the Parks and Recreation Administration Office, 1515 N. Galloway Avenue, during normal business hours. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be sold at the door. City employees recognized for
years of service

This week, the Mesquite City Council and City Manager Cliff Keheley thanked 144 city employees for a combined total of 1,800 years of service. Mike Screws, Manager of Utilities, was among the honorees for his 40 years of public service to the Mesquite community. A special thank you to the West Mesquite High School Color Guard for the presentation of the Colors at the ceremony.

Additional UPS Battery Backup systems installed at major intersections

Additional Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Battery Backup systems have been installed at 12 new traffic signal locations. These include the major arterial systems on Town East Boulevard from Samuel Boulevard/US Highway 80 to N. Galloway Avenue, and Gus Thomasson Road from Motley Drive to Driftwood Drive. These installations will help prevent traffic congestion in the event of a power outage and bring the total number of UPS systems in the city to 22.
