Celebrate Black History MonthThroughout February, the City of Mesquite will host events, programs, and activities in recognition of Black History Month. HMI presents Time Travel Tuesdays, a social media series highlighting notable Black residents. Programs are also offered at the Main Library all month long, including one about Black inventors. The Arts Center offers Black History Month–themed youth art kits while supplies last. And don’t miss Parks & Recreation’s special event at Eastfield celebrating with community partners on Feb. 21 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Enjoy food, student music, dance and featured keynote speaker Courtney Brazile. Pothole Blitz and Road Report UpdateThe City of Mesquite Streets Division completed an asphalt overlay on Calle Williams this week. By utilizing City crews and equipment, the project was delivered efficiently and demonstrates the strength of Mesquite’s in-house street repair program. 9th Annual Neighborhood SummitThe City will host the 9th Annual Neighborhood Summit on Feb. 28 at the Cliff Keheley Community Room in the Mesquite Government Center located at 500 S. Galloway Avenue.
