Mesquite Elections Results

Voters decided on the makeup of the Mesquite City Council and voted to deny the proposed tax rate increase in the Nov. 4 local elections. Below are the results:

• District 2 - Kenny Green
• District 3 - Elizabeth Rodriguez-Ross
• District 4 - Headed to runoff between Andrew Hubacek and Nadine Ward
• District 5 - B.W. Smith

Honoring our Nation's Veterans

The City of Mesquite is hosting a Veterans Day celebration from 11 a.m. - noon on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Mesquite Veterans Memorial, to honor and celebrate those who have served in the armed forces. The event will feature a traditional ceremony followed by a special program to recognize and pay tribute to the bravery and service of our military heroes. Click here for more information.

Monthly Pothole Blitz: November

Last weekend, the City conducted a Pothole Blitz - the first in a new monthly effort to repair roads quickly and more efficiently by addressing high-priority potholes identified by residents and staff. During the Pothole Blitz, crews repaired 204 potholes across several neighborhoods and corridors using cold mix asphalt. For more updates on road work in Mesquite, visit the Road Report.

Recycle Away at Mesquite Recycles Day

Your trash is our treasure! Recycle your unwanted items from 8 a.m. - noon on Nov.15 at the front parking lot of Poteet High School, 3300 Poteet Drive. This community event offers an opportunity to recycle items including cell phones, batteries, toys, clothes, computers and other household items. Click here for more information. 

Teen Turnout on Nov. 8

Youth ages 12-17 are invited to enjoy music, food and fun at the last Teen Turnout of 2025 from 6-8 p.m. on Nov. 8 at Dunford Recreation Center, 1015 Green Canyon Drive. Registration is on site. For more information about Teen Turnout events, visit www.cityofmesquite.com/RealTexasTeens. 

Find a Good Read at the Fall Book Sale

The Friends of the Mesquite Public Library are hosting the Fall Book Sale from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Nov. 14, and from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Nov. 15. Proceeds benefit the Mesquite Public Library System. The sale will feature gently used books and DVDs across a variety of genres. Credit cards will be accepted along with cash and checks.
