Upcoming District Meetings

Councilmembers Jeff Casper and Kenny Green will host a joint District 1 and 2 Meeting on Oct. 7 at Sharing Life Community Outreach's National Night Out Event at 3795 W. Emporium Circle. The event starts at 6 p.m. and Councilmembers will begin discussion at 7 p.m. Councilmember Elizabeth Rodriguez-Ross will host the District 3 Meeting at 7 p.m. on Sept. 30 at North Mesquite High School, 18201 LBJ Freeway. Councilmember Tandy Boroughs will host the District 4 Meeting at 7 p.m. on Sept. 25 at Evans Recreation Center, 1116 Hillcrest St. Councilmember Brandon Murden will host the District 6 Meeting at 10 a.m. on Sept. 20 at Keystone Church of Mesquite, 1575 Clay Mathis Road. Register to vote by Oct. 6

Oct. 6 is the last day to register to vote in the upcoming election. Early voting in Dallas and Kaufman County will take place from Oct. 20-31, and polls will be open on Election Day, Nov. 4, from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Residents can visit the Dallas County and Kaufman County elections departments online for more information.

Join us for Vida Sana and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

From Sept. 15-Oct. 15, the City of Mesquite will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a variety of events, including Vida Sana, a health and wellness fair geared toward the Hispanic community. The fair will offer fitness classes, healthy living education sessions and the chance to win raffle prizes. Vida Sana will run from 2-4 p.m. on Sept. 20 at the Mesquite Arts Center. Celebrate first responders during Salute to Safety events

From Sept. 26-Oct. 7, the City will host Salute to Safety, a celebration of first responders in Mesquite. The campaign will kick off with the annual First Responder's Game at 7 p.m. on Sept. 26 at Mesquite Memorial Stadium, 2500 Memorial Blvd. Mesquite High School takes on Horn High School. City conducting community survey

The City of Mesquite is conducting a community survey to gather resident input on programs and services. Results, compiled by independent research firm ETC Institute, will help assess satisfaction, set community priorities, and compare service quality with past years and other cities. The survey will be open through Oct. 3. For more information, click here.

KMB presents the Butterfly Ball

Keep Mesquite Beautiful presents its annual fundraiser the Butterfly Ball Sept. 20 from 6-10 p.m. at The Headquarters at Solterra, 1545 Solterra Blvd. This year’s theme is Reimagined: Monarchs & Mojitos. Dress is resort chic. For tickets, click here.

Road Report update: F.P. Lucas Blvd.

F. P. Lucas Boulevard, from McKenzie Road to E. Cartwright Road, is expected to be completed this fall. The existing two-lane asphalt road will be replaced with a new four-lane divided concrete road. The project includes new water and sewer utilities, a new multi-use trail, a new bridge section, and a new traffic signal at Jaguar Way. For details, click here.

Teen Turnout, Mesquite Symphony and more around town

The Mesquite Symphony Orchestra presents "The Composer is Dead" from 1-2 p.m. on Sept. 20. For tickets, visit www.mesquitesymphony.org. Later that day, youth ages 12-17 are invited to enjoy music, food and fun at Teen Turnout from 6-8 p.m. For details, click here.
