Kicking off the Mesquite Mayor 1,000-Page Reading ChallengeOnce again, Mayor Dan Alemán is challenging Mesquite kids ages 12 and under to read 1,000 or more pages this summer. This challenge coincides with the Mesquite Public Library System’s Summer Reading Club and runs from June 2 to July 26. Spread the Love this summerResidents are invited to donate jars of peanut butter and jelly during the annual Spread the Love collection campaign, which runs through Labor Day (Sept. 1). The City also is calling for donations of alternative butters that are safe for kids with nut allergies, such as sunflower seed butter or pumpkin seed butter. Spread the Love donation sites are located at the Mesquite Main Library, 300 W. Grubb Dr.; the North Branch Library, 2600 Oates Dr.; Mesquite City Hall, 757 N.
