City Council to meet March 17

The Mesquite City Council meets at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 17, at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person.

Members of the public desiring to comment during Citizens Forum must preregister by either sending an email to sland@cityofmesquite.com or calling 972-329-8388 before 3 p.m. on March 17. Provide the City Secretary with your name and address. Comments on agenda items may be made during the meeting or by submission on or before 3 p.m. on March 17 to the City Secretary.

Meeting agendas can be viewed online. The City broadcasts meetings via Facebook Live and at www.cityofmesquite.com/WatchCouncilMeetings.

Spring Break camps for kids

Parks and Recreation is hosting Spring Break camps for kids in kindergarten through 6th grade the week of March 17. Camps include indoor and outdoor activities at Dunford Recreation Center and an Outdoor Adventure Camp at Rorie-Galloway Day Camp. For details and pricing, visit www.cityofmesquite.com/HolidayCamps. The Arts Center also is offering two camps for kids ages 6 to 16: one focusing on hands-on art projects, and another teaching dance skills to perform a shortened version of The Wizard of Oz. Vintage Cars

Historic hot rods at the Vintage Car Show

Historic Mesquite will host the Vintage Car Show from 1-4 p.m. on March 22 at Opal Lawrence Historical Park, 711 E. Kearney Street. Register your classic car for $30 for a chance to win trophies and prizes, or attend the show for free. Visit www.HistoricMesquite.org for more information.


Youth council

Youth Services programs for teens

Mesquite teens in grades 9-12 are invited to apply for the City's new Youth Council. The council gives students an opportunity to share their voice and shape the future of our community. Also, applications are open for the Summer Youth Internship Program (SYIP) for teens ages 16-18. SYIP is a paid internship at a local business, nonprofit or the City of Mesquite. Musical melodies in March

Experience live music twice a month through June with the Courtyard Concert Series at the Mesquite Arts Center. Next up is Graceland Ninjaz at 7 p.m. on March 20. The City of Mesquite is improving the myMesquite app for reporting concerns. The app will be unavailable starting March 18, with a new app launching soon.
