City Council to meet on Jan. 21

The Mesquite City Council meets at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person.

Members of the public desiring to comment during Citizens Forum must preregister by either sending an email to sland@cityofmesquite.com or calling 972-329-8388 before 3 p.m. on Jan. 21. Provide the City Secretary with your name and address. Comments on agenda items may be made during the meeting or by submission on or before 3 p.m. on Jan. 21 to the City Secretary.

Meeting agendas can be viewed online. The City broadcasts meetings via Facebook Live and at www.cityofmesquite.com/WatchCouncilMeetings.

MLK Parade and Celebration

The City of Mesquite will honor the life and message of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with its annual parade and celebration on Saturday, Jan. 18. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. with a parade through downtown Mesquite. The celebration continues at 1 p.m. with a community gathering at the Mesquite Arts Center, 1527 N. Holiday Closures and Service Impacts

All City offices will be closed on Jan. 20 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Mesquite Metro Airport and the Compost Facility and Convenience Center will remain open. Commercial and Residential trash will be collected, as well as Commercial recycling. Residential recycling will not be collected. Residential recycling collection will resume on the next scheduled collection day.

Councilmember B.W. Smith will host the District 5 Meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, in the Cliff Keheley Community Room of the Dallas County Mesquite Government Center, 500 S.
