Día de los Muertos Celebration

Celebrate Hispanic culture and heritage with the Mesquite Arts Council’s 8th annual Día de los Muertos Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 26. 

This free, family-friendly Day of the Dead festival will be held from 3-6 p.m. at the Mesquite Arts Center and will feature cultural arts workshops, music, dancing, theatrical performances, food trucks and vendors.

Mesquite PD Gun Buyback event

The Mesquite Police Department is conducting a Gun Buyback Event from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Mesquite Arena. 

The Gun Buyback program is intended to prevent gun violence and dispose of unwanted firearms safely. Anyone can anonymously turn over unwanted firearms and receive gift cards.

This is a drive-up event only where the occupants remain in their vehicle. For full details, click here.

Fall Book Sale to benefit Mesquite Public Library

It's not too late to find your next favorite book at the Fall Book Sale on Oct. 26. 

The twice annual sale benefiting the Mesquite Public Library System features gently used books and DVDs across a variety of genres. Proceeds from the book sale will help pay for programs for Library patrons. Beginning this year, credit cards will now be accepted along with cash and checks. 

Hours for the last day of the Fall Book Sale are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Mesquite’s Main Library, 300 W. Grubb Dr.

Mesquite Arts Theatre presents "Frankenstein"

MAT presents "Frankenstein"

Mesquite Arts Theatre presents “Frankenstein” on stage at the Mesquite Arts Center through Nov. 3. 

Nick Dear’s adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic gothic novel retells the well-known story from the point of view of the Creature. The Creature is brought to life by Victor Frankenstein, a troubled scientist. When the bewildered Creature is abandoned in a hostile world by his horror-struck maker, it sets into motion a spiral of catastrophic events.

KMB hosts back-to-back events

Come celebrate and recycle with Keep Mesquite Beautiful during the first weekend in November.

KMB's Arbor Day event celebrating the value and importance of trees will be at Range Elementary School and will feature performances and a tree planting. See here for details. 

Mesquite Recycles Day will be from 8 a.m. - noon on Saturday, Nov. 2. This community event offers an opportunity to recycle various items from cell phones, batteries, toys, clothes, household items, computers and more. See here for more information.


Symphony experience

Upcoming performances from the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra

Become immersed in the sounds of the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra.

On Saturday, Oct. 26, the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra will perform Berlioz's “Fantastic Symphony” at 7 p.m. Then on Saturday, Nov. 9, the Orchestra will perform Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf” at 3 p.m.
