City Council to meet on Sept. 16

The Mesquite City Council meets at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person.

Members of the public desiring to comment during Citizens Forum must preregister by either sending an email to sland@cityofmesquite.com or calling 972-329-8388 before 3 p.m. on Sept. 16. Provide the City Secretary with your name and address. Comments on agenda items may be made during the meeting or by submission on or before 3 p.m. on Sept. 16 to the City Secretary.

Meeting agendas can be viewed online. The City broadcasts meetings via Facebook Live and at www.cityofmesquite.com/WatchCouncilMeetings.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month is Sept. 15-Oct. 15, and the City of Mesquite has several special events and recognitions planned.

Join the fiesta and visit Vida Sana: Hispanic Heritage Health Fair on Sept. 21, celebrate with Lotería Nights at a local restaurant, sample the wares of Hispanic vendors at our Downtown Farmers Market, explore the work of Hispanic artists at the Mesquite Arts Center, and experience cultural performances and art workshops at both Library branches.

Councilmember Brandon Murden District 6 Meeting

District 6 Meeting on Sept. 18

City Councilmember Brandon Murden will host the District 6 Meeting at 7 p.m. on Sept. 18 at Horn High School, 3300 E. Cartwright Road.

Residents are invited to come hear updates and meet their Councilmember.

Property Tax 101 at Town Hall Tuesday

There will be a special Town Hall Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 in the Training Rooms A&B at City Hall.

Dallas County Tax Office and Dallas Central Appraisal District representatives will be presenting "Property Tax 101," and will explain the property tax system, how property values are assessed, the steps involved in the appraisal appeal process, and key property tax deadlines.

KMB's Trash Bash on Sept. 28

Keep Mesquite Beautiful presents its twice-annual community cleanup event with Trash Bash from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28. Trash Bash is an opportunity for families, neighbors and groups to enjoy the outdoors and help beautify the Mesquite community. Guts and Gory Zombie Experience

Guts & Gory Zombie Experience

Oh no -- zombies are going to attack at Rorie-Galloway Day Camp in Mesquite on Sept. 28! Or at least volunteers in zombie costumes as part of the annual Guts & Gory Zombie Experience. Run through the woods, compete in team building challenges and try to survive the zombie horde. Participate in this unique event as a racer for a fee or as a zombie for free.
