Hop on over for Bunny EGGstravaganzaWelcome the arrival of spring with the annual Bunny EGGstravaganza on Saturday, March 30. The free, family-friendly event will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Evans Recreation Center, 1116 Hillcrest St. The celebration will feature two egg hunts for kids to gather colorful, candy-filled eggs: one starting at 10 a.m. and the next at 12 p.m. Both egg hunts will be organized by age groups. This year, some eggs will contain special coupons from Nothing Bundt Cakes for a free treat. Other Bunny EGGstravaganza activities will include free pictures with the Easter Bunny, a balloon artist, face painting, arts and crafts, and bounce houses. Saddle Up: Rodeo Parade is April 6Saddle up for the City of Mesquite’s annual Rodeo Parade on Saturday, April 6. The parade will start at 10 a.m. on Beltline Road at Newsom Road and will continue through Downtown Mesquite. Entry for parade floats is open to all local civic clubs, community groups, sports teams, school clubs, and businesses. The fee to enter is $40 and registration ends April 3. The Rodeo Parade dates back to 1957 when the owners of the rodeo rode their horses into Downtown Mesquite and invited the community to the new rodeo facility. Solar Rodeo Weekend April 6-8 As many as 70,000 visitors are expected to come to the Mesquite area to view the total solar eclipse on the afternoon of April 8. The eclipse will last for four minutes and eight seconds in Mesquite. Because of its prime viewing location for this incredible astronomical event, the City is hosting a weekend full of activities for the whole family called the Solar Rodeo, April 6-8. The Solar Rodeo weekend includes the annual Rodeo Parade on April 6, the opening of the Downtown Mesquite Farmers Market on April 6, a Tejano music festival at Mesquite Arena on April 7, and multiple eclipse-watching events on April 8. Courtyard Concert: Epic UnpluggedCome out on April 4 for the next event in the Courtyard Concert Series with artist Epic Unplugged. Inspired by MTV's Unplugged, Epic Unplugged is an all-live music experience that includes vocals, a full band and a string quartet.
