Hop on over for Bunny EGGstravaganza

Welcome the arrival of spring with the annual Bunny EGGstravaganza on Saturday, March 30.

The free, family-friendly event will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Evans Recreation Center, 1116 Hillcrest St.

The celebration will feature two egg hunts for kids to gather colorful, candy-filled eggs: one starting at 10 a.m. and the next at 12 p.m. Both egg hunts will be organized by age groups. This year, some eggs will contain special coupons from Nothing Bundt Cakes for a free treat.

Other Bunny EGGstravaganza activities will include free pictures with the Easter Bunny, a balloon artist, face painting, arts and crafts, and bounce houses. Attendees also can pick up a complimentary Whataburger taquito (one per person) and free Scooter's Coffee for the first 500 guests.

Upcoming Council District meetings

Upcoming District meetings 

City Councilmember Kenny Green will host the District 2 Meeting at 10 a.m. on March 23 at Florence Recreation Center, 2501 Whitson Way.

Residents are invited to come hear updates and meet their Councilmember.

The next District meeting will be hosted by Councilmember Brandon Murden for District 6 at 7 p.m. on March 28 at B.J. Smith Elementary School, 2300 Mesquite Valley Road.

Saddle Up: 

The Rodeo Parade is April 6

Saddle up for the City of Mesquite’s annual Rodeo Parade on Saturday, April 6. The parade will start at 10 a.m. on Beltline Road at Newsom Road and will continue through Downtown Mesquite.

The Rodeo Parade dates back to 1957 when the owners of the rodeo rode their horses into Downtown Mesquite and invited the community to the new rodeo facility. To learn more about the Rodeo Parade, visit www.cityofmesquite.com/RodeoParade.

Coming April 6-8,

Solar Rodeo Weekend 

As many as 70,000 visitors are expected to come to the Mesquite area to view the total solar eclipse on the afternoon of April 8.

 

The eclipse will last for four minutes and eight seconds in Mesquite. Because of its prime viewing location for this incredible astronomical event, the City is hosting a weekend full of activities for the whole family called the Solar Rodeo, April 6-8.

 

The Solar Rodeo weekend includes the annual Rodeo Parade on April 6, the opening of the Downtown Mesquite Farmers Market on April 6, a Tejano music festival at Mesquite Arena on April 7, and multiple eclipse-watching events on April 8.
