City Council to meet on June 5


Mesquite City Council meets at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 5, at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person. Members of the public desiring to comment during Citizens Forum must preregister by either sending an email to sland@cityofmesquite.com or calling 972-216-6244 before 3 p.m. on June 5. Provide the City Secretary with your name and address. Comments on agenda items may be made during the meeting or by submission on or before 3 p.m. on June 5 to the City Secretary. Farmers Market

Farmers Market to be held on June 10 


Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., April through November, head to Front Street Station, 100 W. Front Street, to discover a wide variety of local goods. Enjoy a selection of artisanal products, locally grown produce, baked goods, bath and body products and more. Local musicians will also be performing on the new outdoor stage. Spread the Love campaign launched


The City of Mesquite has launched its annual Spread the Love campaign to help feed children in need over the summer break. Residents are encouraged to donate jars of peanut butter and jelly during the collection campaign which runs through Labor Day, Sept. 4. This year, the City also is calling for donations of alternative butters that are safe for kids with nut allergies, such as sunflower seed butter or pumpkin seed butter. Donations are being collected at four locations:

  • George A. Venner, Sr. Municipal Center, 1515 N. Galloway Ave.
  • Mesquite City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave.
  • Main Library, 300 W. Grubb Drive
  • North Branch Library, 2600 Oates Drive

Movies in the Park "Dive-In Movie" to be held on June 9


Come experience a free movie under the stars at City Lake Aquatic Center on Friday, June 9. Attendees will have the opportunity to watch Disney Pixar's Luca, while relaxing by the pool. Pre-show entertainment will include pool side games for all ages, prize games, and more starting at 7 p.m. Admission is limited to 500 people. Parks and Recreation Department offers summer camps for kids


The City of Mesquite is offering summer camps through August 4 for children who have completed kindergarten through sixth grade. Teen Camp is also available this year for youth aged 12-15. Campers will enjoy field trips, indoor and outdoor activities, swim days, and crafts. Camps are open to both residents and non-residents of Mesquite.
