Mesquite Police Department graduates four cadets

Today, four cadets graduated from the Mesquite Police Department’s internal Basic Peace Officer Course (BPOC): Thomas Alexander, Matthew James, Michael Roland, and Colton Sipes. These cadets of the 19^th BPOC class come from Texas and Arkansas and have a variety of backgrounds and experiences. They will now begin a 17-week field training program. Upon successful completion of the field training program the new police officers will be assigned to patrol duties.

Cluse to Join City of Mesquite

Susan Cluse, current City Manager for the City of Balch Springs, will assume the role of Assistant City Manager with the City of Mesquite effective July 1, 2023. Prior to serving as City Manager, Cluse served as Chief Financial Officer for the City of Balch Springs and was the Assistant Director of Finance for the City of Lancaster. Entries sought for Annual Rodeo Parade

The Parks and Recreation Department will present the 65th annual Rodeo Parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 1. The parade entry fee is $40, and the registration deadline is Thursday, March 30. For a map of the parade route or online registration, visit www.cityofmesquite.com/RodeoParade.

NTMWD to conduct annual maintenance on water system

The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) will conduct their annual system maintenance process March 6 - April 3. This ensures Mesquite's drinking water is safe. City Council approves Downtown Facade Improvement Grant

Another Downtown Mesquite building will soon receive an update made possible by the Downtown Mesquite Façade Improvement Grant program. The property at 200 W. Davis St., owned by the Watts Family Trust, is currently occupied by the Lindstrom Law Firm. It is at the intersection of Gibson and Davis Streets. The City Council unanimously approved the application for $2,941.62, which represents 50% of the anticipated cost of the façade improvement. Visit www.cityofmesquite.com/Facade for more information.

Mesquite Arts Council to host St. Patrick’s Day Concert

Join the Mesquite Arts Council for the acoustic Celtic band, 5 Second Rule, at 7 p.m. on March 16 for the annual St. Patrick’s Day concert. This celebration will include a family-friendly outdoor atmosphere. The location will be in front of the facility, allowing individuals to bring their own chairs or view from their vehicles if they choose to. Spring Break Camp

Send your kids to Spring Break Camp for a day or week of fun at Dunford Recreation Center, 1015 Green Canyon, or Camp Rorie Galloway, 3100 Lawson Road. Camps are for kindergarten through sixth grade students and operate Monday, March 13 through Friday, March 17 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Dunford daily fee is $20 per resident/$30 per non-resident, Camp Rorie Galloway daily fee is $25 per resident/$35 per non-resident.
