The State of the Community event will be on Feb. 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the Mesquite Arts Center.  The mayor, MISD superintendent, Eastfield president and city manager will have panel discussions to celebrate our community wins and innovations and recognize areas for improvement. Poteet High School's Show Choir, Variety, will kick off the festivities. The event will conclude with an unveiling of Economic Development’s strategic plan. Join us for this special event.

Lawson Road detour map

Lawson Road Closures


Lawson Road will be closed Saturday, Feb. 11, from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. due to a safety improvement project being managed by the Texas Department of Transportation. There will be a detour via Beltline Road, Mercury Road, and Faithon P. Lucas Blvd. Visitors to the Convenience Center should access the Center via Cartwright Road. There will be no access from the south or IH-20.

Weather Activated Refuge for Mesquite 


During the recent freezing weather, with the Mesquite community's help, 83 unsheltered neighbors were placed into a hotel for four nights. Community support is life-changing. For more information on Weather Activated Refuge for Mesquite (WARM), visit www.cityofmesquite.com/WARM.

Mesquite Main Library offers new study rooms


The Mesquite Main Library, 300 W. Grubb Drive, now offers four study rooms to provide a quiet place for reading, studying, or research. The three small rooms and one larger room were constructed in the existing library space and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The rooms may not be reserved. Tickets on sale now for 2023 Daddy Daughter Dance


Tickets are on sale now for the 2023 Daddy Daughter Dance. This annual event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18. The dance will have a Masquerade theme and will be held at the Mesquite Convention Center, 1700 Rodeo Drive. Tickets may be purchased online at www.cityofmesquite.com/DaddyDaughterDance as well as all City recreation centers and the Parks and Recreation Administration Office, 1515 North Galloway Ave. Visit www.cityofmesquite.com/DaddyDaughterDance for more information.
