City Council Meets May 16


Mesquite City Council meets May 16 at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person. Face coverings are optional for attendees, but the city will continue to implement social distancing measures with limited seating. Members of the public desiring to comment during Citizens Forum must preregister as follows: Send an email or call the City Secretary on or before 3 p.m. May 16 at sland@cityofmesquite.com or 972-216- 6244. Provide the City Secretary with your name and address. Comments on agenda items may be made during the meeting or by submission on or before 3 p.m. on May 16 to the following email address: sland@cityofmesquite.com. View meeting agendas online. Short Term Rentals Update


After an increasing number of concerns raised by residents living near short term rental properties, the Mesquite City Council passed a series of measures to address concerns with parking, noise, commercial events and disorderly conduct at these properties. Learn more.

Mesquite Recycles Day on May 14


Mesquite Recycles Day will return on May14 at Poteet High School, 3300 Poteet Drive, from 8 a.m. - noon. The free event provides Mesquite residents the opportunity to drop off a variety of reusable items, electronic-waste and offers professional document shredding. Summer Youth Internship Program


The deadline for the Summer Youth Internship Program has been extended to May 20. The internship is a paid, six-week program, which aims to provide income eligible students aged 15-17 with access to gain meaningful job experience beyond the classroom and the opportunity to acquire skills to secure future employment. KMB hosts successful Trash Bash


More than 638 volunteers collected about 288 bags, containing nearly 4,800 pounds of litter from 30 locations around Mesquite, including parks, neighborhoods and retail shopping areas as a part of Keep Mesquite Beautiful, Inc. (KMB) cleanup event, Trash Bash, on April 30. Learn more.

Mesquite Rocks! on May 19


Please join the Mesquite Arts Council as they welcome tribute band, Epic Unplugged, on May 19 at 7 PM during Mesquite Arts Center’s annual concert series “Mesquite Rocks!” The location will be on the perimeter of the facility, allowing individuals to bring their own chairs and view from their vehicles if they choose to. Movies in the Park on May 20


On May 20, Mesquite will host their annual Movies in the Park, featuring free, family-friendly movies at Paschall Park, 1001 New Market Road. The featured movie, Paw Patrol, starts at dusk. Event admission and parking is free. Visit www.cityofmesquite.com/MoviesinthePark for more information.
